The 2017 BE SOMEBODY – Fire/EMS Recruiting Event will be held on Saturday June 3 to raise awareness that our communities rely on, and are in need of, volunteers to provide emergency services.
This event will take place from 11 am to 3pm along US 2 in Brule, WI. Personnel from over 30 departments will be on hand to answer questions and show apparatus. WNXR 107.3 FM will be broadcasting live from the site. Officials from supporting agencies and our elected officials are expected to attend.
After the media event many of the volunteer agencies will host an open house in their communities to meet and talk with their residents.
Recruitment and retention is the number one challenge for volunteer emergency service organizations. The need is not only for firefighters, rescue personnel, and EMS responders, but also for volunteers to fill roles such as fire hall and vehicle maintenance, secretary, treasurer, fire inspections, and food preparation during emergencies.
The Town of Brule will begin seasonal weight restrictions on Tuesday, February 21, 2017, concurrent with the restrictions imposed by the Douglas County Highway Dept. The weight limits are in effect as soon as the signs are in place. For further information see the Douglas County Websight:
