2016 Be Somebody

The 2016 “BE SOMEBODY- Fire/EMS Recruiting Event” will be held on Saturday June 4 to raise awareness that our communities rely on, and are in need of, volunteers to provide emergency services.

This event will take place from 11 am to 2pm along US 2 in Brule, WI. Personnel from over 30 departments will be on hand to answer questions and show apparatus. WNXR 107.3 FM will be broadcasting live from the site. Officials from supporting agencies and our elected officials are expected to attend.

After the media event many of the volunteer agencies will host an open house in their communities to meet and talk with their residents.

Recruitment and retention is the number one challenge for volunteer emergency service organizations. The need is not only for firefighters, rescue personnel, and EMS responders, but also for volunteers to fill roles such as fire hall and vehicle maintenance, secretary, treasurer, fire inspections, and food preparation during emergencies.

A “BE SOMEBODY” phone line has been established to aid those interested in becoming emergency services volunteers. Interested groups or individuals may call 888-926-1676 and leave a message indicating what service they are interested in and it will be forwarded to the appropriate department chief or director who will return their call and answer questions.

Questions concerning this event may be directed to Brule Fire Department member Adam Olson, media coordinator, at 715-815-0095 (Cell) or [email protected].
